As a designer and craftsperson, I strive to create objects that spark conversation. Whether I'm making something from wood, metal, ceramic, or reclaimed plastic, my goal is to hone my craft with each thing that I make. Over the last few years I eschewed traditional materials in exchange for upcycled explorations, some of which you can see below. Of late, traditional materials have drawn me back in as I begin to explore aluminum casting and metalsmithing.
What are some things that inspire you in your studio practice?
Materials and process!
Does your current creative practice tie into your time spent at RISD? How so?
My cast iron work, upcycled material project, and metalsmithing work all had their genesis in RISD studios.
Is there a work/body of work that you are particularly excited about sharing with us at RISD Craft this year?
Yes, the hanging cast planters that I have developed.
