Based in Providence, RI
I am drawn to natural materials, I strive to make work that responds to the materials in front of me. From rocks to feathers to metal, I studie materials and works with color and form to create her evocative jewels. I try and utilize the material in its entirety and take natural forms to shape the material to comfortable wearable objects. Currently I am working with natural stone to create rings and earrings.
What are some things that inspire you in your studio practice?
I am constantly inspired by nature, from the materials I use to the feeling of being in specific places. I was recently on vacation at the beach and I found so many new colors and stones to work with. I am constantly in aww of the incredible natural colors that come out of the earth.
Does your current creative practice tie into your time spent at RISD? How so?
Yes! I learned how to cut stones in a glass cold working and cutting class. The techniques I learned in that class are ones that I still use daily in my studio.
Is there a work/body of work that you are particularly excited about sharing with us at RISD Craft this year?
I am very excited to show my new earring designs. They are colorful, fun and all one of a kind, I love watching people interact with them. Each pair has their own personality and it's so much fun seeing when someone finds the perfect pair.
