Linda Magi 77 JM
Based in Rochester, NY
Interesting design, expert craftsmanship and attention to detail can transform ordinary materials into special objects. I follow this concept as I craft cotton yarn, maple twigs, semi precious stones, silver and other materials into jewelry that redefines the meaning of preciousness.
What are some things that inspire you in your studio practice?
Taking ordinary and found objects and making them special and precious using good design and impeccable craftsmanship.
Does your current creative practice tie into your time spent at RISD? How so?
RISD taught me to question, think and explore possibilities.
Is there a work/body of work that you are particularly excited about sharing with us at RISD Craft this year?
I am currently working on a collection of jewelry using maple twigs I have harvested from the woods around my summer cottage
Any recent press/exhibitions/achievements you'd like to share with us?
My shows this year include the Clothesline Festival in Rochester, NY in September, and CraftsBoston in December.
